Setting up on Discord means needing a Discord account. Building on Matrix means using w/e client your comm wants

@matrix I do agree with this philosophy of giving the user the ability to choose what they want to use. But I don't think that Matrix is comparable to Discord yet. It doesn't have the same level of management; you can't set custom rolls, and the recent "spaces" are just groups of rooms that need to be joined individually and can't be configured as a whole. You also can't just join voice and wait for other people to join.
Plus, i'd also need to convince my friends to switch.
